Kindra's October Picks
If you click on Book of the Month as shown above - it'll take you to a referral link from yours truly! We can both get a free book. Who doesn't love free books?

The Water Dancer by Ta-Nehisi Coates
Coates, who gained wide readership by writing about cultural, social, and political issues particularly in regard to African Americans and white supremacy. The Water Dancer is a reflection of this background. This nonlinear, nontraditional plot structure depicts a brutal reality of a man born into bondage who has a touch of magic. I can't wait to review this book!

Fate of the Fallen by Kel Kade
Kade, who has one other popular series (King's Dark Tidings), begins a quest with this new series. *Spoiler* it's a quest novel. Kade's writing reflects his military traveling lifestyle. He writes about adventures, and he incorporates a richness of places and cultures. Fate of the Fallen follows Mathias and his best friend, Aaslo, as they try to survive. Review to come!

The Fountains of Silence by Ruta Sepetys
Sepetys, a Lithuanian-American author is famous for her historical fiction. The Mountains of Silence is no difference as it takes place in 1957 Madrid. Lives and hearts collide in the 400+ pages where we follow a collision of stories between Daniel and Ana as they exist under a fascist dictatorship in Spain. Review to follow.
ABOUT ME

Hello! My name is Kindra Petersen, more popularly known with my students as "Ms. P" or even an occasional "Hey double P what's up?!" though there is no other P to be found. This blog is a compilation of reflections I will be making, moments I'll be learning from, and goof ups as I go along.
My name is Ms. Petersen and my teaching journey is just beginning.
